Name: Instructor: Course: Date: The Case for the Creator Question 1 Religion is a diverse field in life and requires one to have a conviction that will give him or her the needed identity on earth. Before the creation class, I was of the opinion that the universe came into existence after God created it. The light and darkness that distinguishes day and night are crucial in the creation story that I had in mind before attending this class and watching scientific documentaries. Although many people believe that the evolution story would better explain the origin of the universe, my viewpoint differs significantly from them since there are some missing links in such a story. From ‘The Case for the Creator’ written and directed by Lee Strobel, the scientific explanation that involves the use of amino acids to create humans can be misleading and should not be depended upon. In fact, believing that the origin of the universe can be explained through scientific laws conflicts the Biblical creation story that I have known for a long time. Thus, I believe that science and religion cannot be used collaboratively in explaining the creation of the universe since the former tries to look for faults in the later to win the argument. Moreover, I assumed that God created the first two human beings, that is, Adam and Eve and gave them the authority to multiply and take care of the organisms living under the sun. Even though science can aid in the creation of human beings through reaction of various chemicals, it is hard for the scientists to induce life and sustain it. Thus, it is not worthy to compete with the Supreme Creator in any way. Most of the religions on earth support the creation story that is Biblically recognized. Question 2 From ‘The Case for the Creator,’ the most compelling claim that explains the origin of the universe and that of human life is the use of the cosmological concept. In 1915, Albert Einstein observed the galaxies moving away from the earth from time to time. Thus, he concluded that the earth must have originated from a particular point and it is in the process of becoming bigger over time. This can be supported by Kalam’s argument which posits that whatever is in existence must have a cause and a starting point. Thus, the universe must have started existing after originating from a small body which expanded leading to the current state. However, this argument might leave out the origin of life on earth since it concentrates so much on the universe. On the other hand, there are weak arguments. One of them is the use of amino acids as the primary building blocks of human life. This claim fails to show how such acids can be reliable cells that form the human body and give people the life that can be experienced on earth. Additionally, most of the non-living things such as rivers, mountains, and valleys are not explained well, and this leaves people with no option but to think that the earth existed before. This brings up the aspect of the hand of a supernatural being which created the universe and anything that dwells in it. Another argument is the Cambria Explosion which dates back to more than 500 million years ago. Physics might also be used to explain human origin through the cosmological constant or gravity. However, there are a lot of missing links and inaccuracies as to the actual number of people on ea...
