Requirement specification technique
For this project, it is appropriate that we select Process Modeling technique. The reason for choosing this technique is because with this technique, we will be able to define what is going on in our system as at now and what should be going on when we want to improve or adjust our system. This technique is based on the concept that defines a process as a system that takes inputs from the environment, processes and then gives outputs back to the environment. It not only cutters for the logical needs of the system but also the technological needs which includes how the system should be implemented, what software and hardware are required. This technique understands that the environment is always changing and therefore it incorporates a well design that provides feedback and control loop thus able to adapt to the changing system condition. With logical models, the risk of having missing requirements is reduced because all the technical details are covered. It focuses on separating what our system must do from what it will do thus it helps in analyzing the requirements for completeness, accuracy as well as consistency (Ghaisas, 2016).
The requirements for registering a student for a class
* The functional requirements.
* Enroll in University
* Full student’s name
* Student admission number.
* Course
* Register for a course
* If the student has met the prerequisites proceed to
* Checking availability of a seat in the course and if available
* Register student
* User Objectives.
Using the system, Students should be able to accomplish the following;
* The system should provide a registration form where students can register and fill all their details.
* Students should be able to change their details in the case where information is incorrect.
* Students should be able to change their passwords at any time. this is a security feature.
* In case a student has forgotten his password, he/she can request for it.
* Design and Implementation Constraints
The System as such is not a new product. However, here will be the need of documenting it, which is more detailed and informative in order to provide enough information to the users about the product. The user documentation is:
* On-line help; this will be included in the system. It will be accessed through the Help menu.
* Manuals; These will be online in the system. They will be used to train the users before they use the system. They will document the most important features to learn.
* Operating environment
This system is inexpensive, affordable and easy to operate. It is highly recommended that system analysts take a critical look at requirements so as to ensure optimum operational services from the system.
* Project Requirements
* Programming language will be PHP, MySQL and JavaScript
* Net Beans IDE version 8.0.4
* System requirements
This is a summary of both hardware and software specifications for the optimal performance of the system (Siewiorek & Swarz, 2017).
