The need to protect the US has gradually evolved overtime from the era of civil war by the mid-20th century. The country has become a dominant force in international relations and brands its army as the policemen of the world. It is because of their massive involvement in many military actions witnessed in the last half century averaging to more than one operation done in a year. The international policies led to the creation of a sense of responsibility and increased roles that facilitated the management of the problems faced by other nations. These responsibilities involved the management of laws and peace over the whole world. Therefore, when the US takes charge of the responsibilities it makes it the become policemen of the world.
The evolutions of foreign policy of the US after the existing civil war enabled it to develop and foster significant military expeditions within the country and other foreign countries. The country has long history of military operations worldwide owing to their existing nature as the world top super power. A number of occasions exist where the US deployed the use of military force in foreign nations either in situations owing to potential conflicts, peacekeeping actions or military conflict. Most of these actions, however, are associated with the United Nations or with NATO and often limits the number of forces being deployed, the purpose of deploying troops and the extent of hostility being experienced (Hemmer, 2000). The paper essay therefore, establishes various ways how the United States perceives itself responsible for global order maintenance. It also justifies the impact which the military has in influencing peace in major parts of the world. Moreover, the paper employs various real life situations from a number of incidents witnessed from the past years involving the military and other controversial involvements abroad.
Justification
The country has witnessed a number of military actions in the last half century. The average totals to more than one military operation that the US has deployed in foreign nations within a year. For instance, the involvement of military operation in nations such as Syria and the Iraq/Afghanistan act as examples (Schneider, 2013). A number of incidents have also influenced the country’s involvement in international policies. Majorly, it’s the country’s foreign policies that have significantly led it to deploy its military forces abroad. Also, significant influence by the notion to exist as a super power which gives it the responsibility of maintaining peace and order of the world made it deploy its military force. The US deploys their military to deliver peace and protect their citizens against the owing attacks from rebel countries. It justifies their military expeditions in the past years in Iraq and Afghanistan (Hemmer, 2000). Moreover, the rising Islamic forces in countries like Syria also pose as a threat to the country and the world at large. This made the country to develop the notion and the responsibility of protection and maintenance of world peace by deploying their military to counter the Islamic attacks in Syria (Grimmett, 2010). It is evident now that the US uses its military bring peace order, protect its citizens and promoting the countries interest.
International policy events from past years.
The US undertook various measures of precaution to facilitate the prevention of future occurrence of civil wars. They also implemented policies that would see the abolition of future nuclear development and attacks even though they posses atomic power. Therefore in order for the country to facilitate its dominance over others it implemented various policies. Examples of these international policy events from the past five years that the US military participated include the establishment of hazardous weapons harbored in Iraq, the al-Qaida attacks on the United States and the rise of insurgents in Afghanistan. Claims of harboring of massive mass destruction weapons by Iraq threatened not only its citizens but the world at large. Moreover, the country also needed democracy for their interest. Therefore, US military deployed troops in Iraq to help fight against the malicious al-Qaida group that terrorized its citizens and other Iraq citizens. They developed strategies of how to arrest Saddam Hussein to bring democracy to citizens of Iraq and facilitate their interest of obtaining oil form the region.
Moreover, the rise of Islamic forces that terrorized citizens in Syria and other nations led to the deployment of troops to the region to enforce peace and democracy among the people and protect other interests. The government also enforced military training program in the country where the US military trainers take charge of training the moderate Syrian soldiers on skills useful in peacekeeping and war.
Aspects of USA that history that led it to rise as a world Super Power policeman.
With their rise of interest of emerging as policemen of the world, the US established various ground rules that would enable them implement efficient strategies of control. These strategies aimed at controlling the production of weapons and other military equipments. A number of events on the international level have occurred over the years which reflect the role of US as a super power. They include the involvement in the Second World War which propelled the country to the top of the world, enlightened leadership that enabled the country to choose wise leaders and decision makers like McKinley and Roosevelt, changes in policies of immigration and the economic diversity and growth that enabled the country to increase power regionally and globally. These strategies portrayed the US as policemen of the world. These steps were necessity in maintaining the country’s integrity and security against terror attacks. The country revised its immigration policies that attracted massive immigrants from different nations who hoped to improve their lives. The rapid increase of immigrants led to implementation of various rules and regulations to ensure proper documentations of the immigrants living in the country (Nikou, S. (2014).
USA international policy roles since World War II
The country has played important roles in shaping policies internationally since the end of world war two. The most valid examples is the role the military plays during peacekeeping activities in Kuwait or Kosovo. The US government together with the United Nations and other super powers joined forces to fight civil wars in other countries to force democracy to the citizens. They also took to themselves to help reduce the world threats by the Islamic forces in Afghanistan and Iraq in order to enhance peace and stability of these two nations. This meant freedom and democracy to the citizens of the two countries and fulfillment of their interest of getting oil. Moreover, the military also countered the hostile regimes that occupied Iran and North Korea who acted as threats to the world peace, security and economy development between the nations.
