source..How people become victims of gambling behavior to a level of committing suicide
The process of acquiring gambling behavior is gradual and runs along through the different conditioning schedules illustrated in operant conditioning, and if a certain audience with an inclination to psychiatric illness is subjected to it then suicide is made more probable (Charles, 2018).
In this essay, we are going to delineate this process from pre-gambling behavior through to termination of behavior in either treatment or suicide and show how the gambling context explicitly attracts people of certain predispositions living under certain circumstances and goads them through a process that in the final stages induces high thresholds in the depression cycle and ultimately death through suicide (Thompson, 2015). We argue that the pre-gambling environment is biased towards a non-variable conditioning schedule but the gambling industry gradually shifts this bias towards a variable conditioning schedule that leaves the gambler who already has significant destabilizing forces within, helpless and unaware of the complex forces affecting him.
We are also going to show how gender-based roles may be playing a significant part in creating the disposing conditions that cause the potential gambler to be susceptible to gambling activity and mass media presentations of gambling, and how this factor of susceptibility actually contribute to the suicide decision.
This paper concludes with ideas of how gambling and the propensity for pathological gambling can be reduced or controlled effectively to reduce mortality and to equip potential gamblers with knowledge and a method to follow when forced with pressure to gamble and probably slide into self-destruction.
