Research Rationale
Artificial intelligence brings out the notion of making computers act like human beings by performing tasks performed by humans, which has become common in most sectors (Shneiderman, 2020; Wamba-Taguimdje et al., 2020). Human and artificial intelligence interaction needs to help managers and leaders make the right decisions and lead to the realization of a culture of the effective and standard management of organizations from its capacity to support solving of complicated decisions (Huang et al., 2021). AI is currently highly utilized in business and management fields, as varied organizations continue to be keen on employing AI as a result of its potential to change and enhance the way of living, learning, communicating, discovering and working (Alasmri & Basahel, 2022). Decision-making processes remain crucial to productivity and organizational performance, which has been demonstrated by various studies that have sought different approaches to enhance leadership performance and decision-making quality.
The actualization of artificial intelligence continues to be a global key trend in different sectors (Duan et al., 2019). There has been a wide range of success stories in the implementation of artificial intelligence, which has led to AI applications expansion (Madhav et al., 2022). Some highly recognized firms that have applied deep learning, a significant aspect of AI, include Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, and Apple (Liang & Al-Walai, 2021). According to Elsafty and Elzeftawy (2021), artificial intelligence applications have been tailored to address different functions like finance, corporate programs management, human resource, finance, marketing, supply chain, sales, operations, manufacturing, and risk assessment, among other factors. Numerous studies have focused on these functions, where functions like marketing, research and development and operations (Verma et al., 2021; Vlačić et al., 2021; Lee et al., 2019), leaving a gap in the evaluation of the influence of artificial intelligence on leadership performance and decision making processes. This study, therefore, addresses this literature gap where the findings of this study will be beneficial to managers wishing to enhance individual and organizational leadership performance and decision-making capabilities. The research will also form a basis for future related studies.
Research Aim and Objectives
The research aims to assess artificial intelligence's impact on decision-making and leadership performance. For the researcher to effectively explore the research topic, the key objectives and questions given below will form the basis for this research.
