1 Introduction
The country of Somalia, which is in the Horn of Africa region, has gone through these geopolitical issues and economic challenges for a long time, where civil war, terrorism, poverty, and unstable politics have marked the country (Bhatti et al., 2024). These problems have left behind a complicated issue, slowing development and risking many human lives. The UN agencies and peacekeeping forces are the principal actors in these conflicts, as they are working hard to restore peace, deliver humanitarian aid, and carry out conditions for developing a post-conflict state (Bhatti et al., 2024). UN peacekeeping mission in Somalia is an excellent example of the organization's global responsibility to secure international peace and security as one of the ways to intervene when there is conflict in other regions and promote peace and development (Bhatti et al., 2024). The UN Secretary-General's leadership styles considerably impact whether or not their interventions are successful when determining the strategic direction and the operational practicability of crisis management.
The vital role of the UN in Somalia is significant not only for understanding the global leadership in managing crises but also for business management during conflict. This project is of great importance because it tries to bridge international relations and business administration and establish more elements that might be employed in understanding the impact of the global governance frameworks on international economies and businesses (Bhatti et al., 2024). From the experiences and results achieved by the UN in Somalia outlined in the article, global leadership is an essential chess piece in the most challenging cases (Bhatti et al., 2024). The practice that the UN has acquired during its operations, especially in such a fragile environment, is crucial in developing robust and changeable practices in relation to the prevailing environments in the area where the business is either operating or in a position to enter.
2 Conceptualizing management research
Management research can be defined as a systematic study of different facets of organizational behavior as well as operations management, decision-making, leadership and planning in order to achieve the goals of increased efficiency and effectiveness (Bhatti et al., 2024). Combining theory with empirical research methodologies, this study is intended to respond to current managerial problems and provide workable solutions and effective new approaches (Bhatti et al., 2024). It may rely on various perspectives based on different disciplines, including psychological, sociological, economic, and information technology, to assess organizational efficiency and develop ways of enhancing it and ensuring its ability to evolve and be sustainable within the increasingly unpredictable business environments.

3.2. Transformational Leadership Theory
Transformational leadership focuses on achieving overall organizational change and inspiring it to reach the ultimate goal. This would mean dealing with emergencies and donor support to reconciliation and development endeavors in Somalia, as indicated by the rhetoric of the United Nations. One of the ways through which transformational leaders use the repertoire is the ability to present a vision and persuade the followers to adopt it and the need for change or help to shape the reform (Bowers et al., 2017). The practical example of using the UN’s transformational leadership in Somalia is various capacity-building initiatives, including those that aim to re-establish the government and restore social order or spur economic development (Bowers, Garrett-Goodyear, & Powell, 2017). This is achieved by involving these leaders in the local community and stakeholders to create a sense of belonging and oneness indispensable to broader peace and development.
3.21 Transactional Leadership Theory
The transactional style of leadership involves the motivating of members of an organization through the use of rewards and punishments. In contrast, transformational leadership helps accentuate the one representing the organization’s vision. This management format is suitable for achieving rapid results and enforcing continued adherence to existing rules and regulations (Bowers et al., 2017). For example, the UN is focused on Somalia and how it uses transactional leadership to achieve peace settlements, stability, and delivery of relief to the region. Whereas such transactional mechanisms are needed for stability and rapid resolution of crises, the UN combines transactional mechanisms with transformational and structural ways to successfully deal with conflict (Buhagiar and Anand, 2023). Such approaches seek to define the factors leading to disputes to learn how to mitigate future conflicts. Successful crisis management in Somalia is transactional and transformational; transactional actions determine the effectiveness of order and structure, which is the essential transformation condition. However, the change processes ensure that the change is positive and sustainable.
3.3 Crisis Management and Leadership Types
3.31 Adaptive Leadership Theory
Adaptive leadership aims to understand an evolving environment's capacity and implement creativity by learning. This concept is of utmost importance to the mission of the UN in Somalia, where the changing situation in the field of operations is both fluid and unstable. Agile leaders are experts in defining the intricacies that the industry is facing and allocating resources while adjusting their strategies to tackle even unforeseen challenges (Buhagiar and Anand, 2023). For the UN, this includes consistently checking the socio-political situation, being aware of different stakeholder needs and perspectives, and having enough flexibility to change some strategies if needed (Buhagiar and Anand, 2023). Adaptive leadership allows the UN to stay reactive and efficient amidst the unpredicted and unstable conditions of the Somali calamity.
3.32 Servant Leadership Theory
Servant leadership will be for the service of others through its pervasive plan to employ empathy, stewardship, and community building. Such a leadership style is multifaceted in the UN’s work on Somalia since it emphasizes the development of trust and collaboration with local communities (Caise and Tucker, 2024). The device of a servant leader is that they are committed to serving their followers, empowering them, and helping them grow and realize their highest potential. In Somalia, this strategy is about interacting with the populace directly, becoming familiar with their difficulties and dreams, and working with them to solve these problems. The UN can develop more robust, resilient partnerships that lead to more efficient and sustainable solutions by focusing on Somali communities' health and capable building (Caise and Tucker, 2024).
