One of the court cases decided by the Warren court is the case between Browns versus the Board of Education. It is a case that advocated for equal rights to both the white and black students in public schools. The case originated in Topeka after a public school declined to enroll a local black student whose father was Oliver Brown. Brown and other local families joined hands and filed a lawsuit against the Board of Education of Topeka. They believed and alleged that the segregation policy practiced in the public school was unconstitutional (Torres & Fireside, 2016).The separate but equal notion violated civil rights hence making Brown initiate a legal fight against the doctrine. At first, the case was filed in a District Court, but the court declined Brown's concerns. The District court argued that racial segregation did not violate legalized amendments on equal protection rights. Brown later appealed to the Supreme court and won the case against the Board of Education.
