“Stop that obsession and go do your homework!” My mother shouted when she found me playing with a collection I had made out of Marilyn Monroe’s things after having paid homage to her grave earlier that day. My mother knew I was obsessed with the entertainment industry, especially film, but she did not want me to abandon other essential areas of life, such as education. She always reminded me that education was the ultimate equalizer, but I wanted more. Film was, and it still is, a part of me. Not only did I have a weird imagination growing up, but I always knew how to put my ideas in the form of a script.
With time, my family accepted that film was not an obsession I needed to get over, and they started supporting my dream. This allowed me time to start finessing my film-writing techniques. I currently have a short film master copy, and I cannot wait to see where this leads.
Nevertheless, there is always room for improvement. Currently, my greatest desire is to join the Los Angeles Film School to learn more about scriptwriting. The i
