According to this article, it is clear that the quality of sleep one gets affects one's daily performance. The article's authors distributed wearable trackers to 100 students in a college attending a chemistry introduction class to experiment with how the quality of sleep affects their class performance on midterm examinations and quizzes. Only 88 students completed the experiment. It was found that the quality of sleep on a single night just before analysis has no effects on students’ class performance. Still, instead, the quality of sleep for weeks or even a whole month affects their class performance and daily classwork. However, it was found that sleep quality accounted for 25% of the daily class performance of the college students who participated in the experiment. The findings in this article provide objective evidence that better sleep quality has a strong association with better daily academic performance in college. The authors concluded that the quality of sleep affects individual daily performance.
