Brief Overview of Critical Appraisal Assignment Article Critique (Article Critique Sample)

Instructions:

Brief overview of Critical Appraisal Assignment
You have to appraise (using appropriate critical appraisal tools) two papers, one qualitative and one quantitative from those provided.
Remember to:
Use APA style of referencing, only the 6th version.

Goal of this assignment: To help you to identify methodological flaws in literature and to make informed decisions about the quality of research evidence.

You need to answer the following three questions:
1. What is the difference between a systematic review and a literature review?
2. What is the purpose of a critical appraisal tool?
3. Of what utility are systematic reviews in healthcare?
These first three question should be no more than 500 words in total

4. Complete a data extraction sheet for one paper (4 articles send separately in pdf)
Yyou decide which one of the four you would like to use.
Further down this page I have provided you with an example of a data extraction sheet, so you can use this style.

5. Complete a critical appraisal tool for one qualitative and one quantitative paper from the four noted above. You decide which two papers to review.

6. Rate and discuss ONE of papers in terms of quality (you decide which one)?
In your opinion (as the researcher), were the tools easy to use?
Did you encounter any difficulties in using the critical appraisal tools?

Watch out for: referencing, spelling, grammar, punctuation and expression.

I have deliberately not set a word limit for sections 4 - 6 of this assignment as the tools that you use may result in variations in how concise you can be.

Please remember that all authors cited in your work (including source of appraisal tools and the papers that you review) must be appropriately referenced using the 6th edition APA format.

Papers for Critical Appraisal Assignment are send separately in pdf.
Please pick one qualitative and one quantitative paper and complete a critical appraisal tool for each.
