As students try to discover themselves, grow, explore their youthfulness, and fit in a changing society, they experience a lot of challenges concentrating on their studies. The issues are compounded by a fairly complex academic system that requires them to score good grades, develop their talents, and pursues hobbies while also dealing with added responsibilities such as part-time work. Besides, college students are at a stage where they are free to make important career decisions that are likely to influence the rest of their lives. The freedom to live on their own as they join higher education institutions, as well as the urge to travel around or attend various social gatherings can also be difficult to manage for some of them. Nonetheless, the students are still expected to perform well in order to progress to the following academic years. Therefore, an effective balance between studying and fulfilling all these activities, responsibilities, and personal interests is required. Grohol (2020) indicates that studying smarter is a more productive technique of studying as opposed to cramming or studying for long hours.
