Climate Change: 'Hothouse Earth' Risks Even If CO2 Emissions Slashed
The argument centers on the severity of climate change, which is expected to increase despite immense efforts to reduce and mitigate greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions. Forests, oceans, and land trap tonnes of carbons that can cause rising temperatures if released into the atmosphere. Anthropogenic activities such as forest harvesting is expected to release much carbon into the atmosphere and exacerbate the problem of climate change. As the author outlines, the earth will become a hothouse because of the massive carbon volumes from forests and oceans (McGrath, 2018).
