Journal Article Critique: Human Resources Development (Article Critique Sample)
Each student will complete two reviews of literature utilizing scientific peer-reviewed journal articles that are data-driven, practical or theoretical in nature.
Please note: Only scholarly research articles also known as peer-reviewed journal articles will be accepted for this assignment. Magazines, web pages, and newspaper articles will not be acceptable. Some examples of peer-reviewed journals in the HRD discipline include: Human Resource Development Review, Performance Improvement Quarterly, Journal of European Industrial Training, Advances in Developing Human Resources, Human Resource Development Quarterly, etc.
At this stage in your development as a writer and researcher, it is assumed that you are new to the process of reviewing and critiquing research articles. Consequently, this journal article critique assignment will require your analysis and reaction to two research articles.
To complete this assignment you must select two scholarly journal articles (one should be a scholarly data-driven article; while the other one may be data-driven, theoretical, or practical in nature).
Each journal article critique must begin with a reference for the article correctly identified in APA 6th Edition format

Knowledge is an important tool for the development of an organization. Managing the knowledge is deemed to be critical to the success of an organization. To capitalize the knowledge, an organization needs to understand the process of knowledge creation, to share, and usage within an organization. However, this has proven to be problematic for most organizations since it is unclear on factors affecting knowledge and the way they are related. For any organization, knowledge exists, and its sharing can be at various organizational levels. The sole purpose of the study covered in this article was to examine knowledge sharing among individuals in an organization and factors that affect knowledge sharing among individuals of an organization.
The methodology of the study involved drawing literature from management theory, strategic management, and organizational behavior. The researcher identified the fields by searching them from scholarly literature. The first process of reviewing the literature involved examining the publications in which knowledge was discussed and the way it exists within an organization. The researcher then narrowed down to publications that covered the way knowledge moves within an organization. The obtained information was then synthesized and analyzed. The identified aspects related to knowledge sharing were then synthesized and used to develop factors affecting knowledge sharing and the way these aspects relate.
The findings indicated that the nature of knowledge, opportunities to share, motivation to share were the main factors that affected knowledge sharing within the work environment. Opportunities to share in this case involve relational and purposive learning channels. The nature of knowledge comprises of tacit and explicit knowledge and the value of knowledge. Motivation to share knowledge entails internal and external factors. Internal factors include power and reciprocity. External factor on the other side may entail relationships with recipients and rewards for sharing. The study concluded that opportunities to share, nature of knowledge and motivation were directly related and as a whole affected knowledge sharing among individuals in an organization.
