Student’s Name Instructor’s Name Course Title Date The Faces in the Mirror In this article, Ty Burr examines the journey of stars from the traditional times to today’s internet era. One hundred years ago movie stars such as Charlie Chaplin were worshiped like gods. Their achievements seemed unachievable because these stars looked like us, but they did not have any imperfections. For this reason, everyone was jealous of their accomplishments and wanted to be like them. These stars were above average because people paid to see them and their productions. However, this is no longer the case in the internet age because even children and ordinary people have turned into stars overnight (Burr 36). Fame is no longer hard to attain since one can share exceptional skills or actions on networking platforms and they will become stars by the following morning. Burr argues that the above changes have been brought about by the rise of the digital media and technological advancements. Digital media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter among others have increased the spread of information which is either blogged, streamed, broadcast or podcast in all these sites.
