The article ‘The Bitch America Needs’ by Andi Zeisler is about gender discrimination in leadership particularly politics in America. The author gives an account of the challenges that Mrs. Clinton has gone through in quest of the American presidential seat to illustrate her point.
She begins by painting the societal view of women who challenge the norm regarding women’s position in the society. Women are not expected to work but remain homemakers. They are also not supposed to pursue political positions. Mrs. Clinton is branded as a bitch for refusing to quit her job when her husband is elected as senator, challenging women to work and even seeking political positions.
Furthermore, the author uses the ongoing campaigns to demonstrate how women are discriminated against in America. She says that the word bitch is used to silence women who try to challenge men. Words like how do we eat the bitch, trump that bitch and take the bitch down are very common in political meetings. The unfortunate thing is that even some women share the same opinion with men.
