Abstract
The purpose of this paper expostulate the political career of the Master Legislator Mr. Edward Kennedy and his efforts in pointing out the areas where the United States government failed to stop the discrimination of immigrants. He implemented his effort by trying to push both immigration and healthcare bills to correct these issues in the senate.
REFLECTION OF A ‘MASTER LEGISLATOR’
The main idea of the article is about Senator Edward M. Kennedy’s significant efforts regarding immigration and other policies. Mr. Kennedy is a key pioneer to major reformations on various issues such as weak leadership and resentment among lawmakers who try to change immigration policies that were in place since his first election in 1962. In one of his interviews w he indicates that he rejected the pleas of these reforms since he was ready for the effect of a presidential race alone. However, in Kennedy’s latest interview he indicated that he dismissed the appeals from the convention because if had happened to lost in pushing his agenda, he may be responsible for accepting the reforms that would later marginalize him.
The thesis statement of this journal is that Mr. Edward Kennedy fought and pushed for what he felt was right in regards to making America a better place on matters of immigration and Healthcare, though he faced opposition some of his visions came to pass.
Senator Edward M. Kennedy at all times managed to get along with the James O. who was the then-segregationist and doubling as the Chairman of the Judiciary. However at the time they met, Edward M Kennedy provided an eighty-proof price. In an Oral History interview with Mr. Kennedy, he discussed how he got the subcommittee assignment in 1963. This interview together with others regarding his career in the past 46 years, were carried out by the Miller Center located at the University of Virginia and later posted online by Miller Center together with the Edward M. Kennedy Institute situated in Boston.
When we take a closer look at the writers work, the author indicates that some of the most compelling accounts of the interview describe how Edward M. Kennedy’s experience led to his keen interest in Health care and Immigration. Another illustrated facet by the writer is the indication of the recurring theme in Mr. Kennedy’s belief which is: the current Senate has not been working hard in regards to solving major issues affecting the nation.
