Racial Imitation in Life and Art
After reading the two articles, I have realized that it’s always the minority ethnic groups that tend to imitate the dominant race in terms of the way of life and also in artistic works including music. People always have the notion that the Western culture is more superior to others, the reason why other cultures always try to copy the western way of life as well as the western art. The phenomenon of life emulation is evident in the case of Franco Haitians migration to eastern Cuba. These people considered French as their domination upheld it and continued to spread it to the Cuban culture (Manuel 79). It is for this reason that even today, the dances of these people, music, and cultural practices have widely spread in Cuba and are practised today.
People from the western culture have always wanted their culture to dominate the world and have always worked hard to ensure that other cultures come to extinction. It is a clear phenomenon in the Caribbean Islands, where the Dutch, the British, the Spanish and the French have in the past laid restrictions on African cultures to promote their own.
