QUESTION 1
The global market expansion: challenges presented in the industry due to current or anticipated entrants into the industry. How will competition impact the Sears company's future?
Sears Corporations announced a strategic expansion decision that would see the company expand to South America and Canada. It involved a change from reliance of traditional sale of washers and dry cleaners, car batteries, and tools. The global market expansion is often a financially intensive exercises that would require planning and market entry techniques. Canada and South America markets are very competitive with small, medium, and large multinationals competing for a share of the market.
New entrants pose great risk to the market compared to competition from existing market players. Most of the entrants seek to grab a share from the existing consumer base that directly affects the existing players’ revenue and profitability. They come up with big discounts and giveaways that attract many customers (Loeb, 2017). Further, they offer a variety on the goods and services available hence helping to attract some loyal customers from other established businesses.
