Comparison of Amazon’s supply chain with the Module Coverage
Supply chains are entire systems that businesses use to deliver products and services to customers. Amazon supply chain depicts several similarities and unique characteristics when compared to the theoretical supply chains taught in the lecture. Amazon supply chain has all the components which constitute to supply chains. These include: suppliers and sub-suppliers, storage systems, distribution systems and customers. As highlighted in the lectures, Amazon has also strived to reduce supply chain costs and increase responsiveness in its supply chain. However, the innovative characteristic of the company has resulted to some pronounced complexities. Such complexities include the unique nature of third party sellers and Amazon’s acquisition strategy in the supply chain.
