Offence Investigation Process by NSW Police
INTRODUCTION
Offence investigation to ensure that offences are detected and evidences are gathered to subject offenders to court proceedings is a crucial function of the New South Wales (NSW) Police Force (NWSPF). It is imperative that all criminal investigation processes balance rights of victims, offenders, and the society according to ensuing contexts. Investigation processes involve offence detection, evidence gathering, police powers, technology use, rights of victims, and rights of offenders. All these are factors that investigating officers are supposed to consider. It is important also to note that the NSWPF performs its work in collaboration with both internal and external partners. External partners are the NSW Ambulance service and the NSW Ministry of Health. This collaboration is vital in that despite ensuring rights of victims and offenders during investigation process, it meet mission and needs of the police force by ensuring best possible investigative outcomes. This paper examines a case involving Chris HEMLOCK and Toby WILSON to determine how investigation procedures of the NWSPF adhered to the law.
