Aravind’s success is linked to multiple aspects as illustrated below.
Innovation: Aravind Eye Care System came up with various innovations, including redesigning workflow organisation, community outreach programmes, and training (Prahalad, 2003). The entity simplified practices to achieve more productivity and efficiency without sacrificing the quality of eye care. This innovative approach enabled it to become the largest and most efficient eye care system on a worldwide scale.
Financial Self-sustainability: With only ten percent of the patients paying, Aravind Eye Care System continued to be financially self-sustaining. It did not use government grants or donations for operational costs. Strict financial discipline, proper pricing, and transparency formed the basis of its financial success.
