What are the Emotional and Behavioral Responses of Each Person to Victor's Death?
The death emotional responses on Victor’s death differ with the affected following the five stages of emotional response. His immediate family experiences denial iwhen first learning about his death. Denial and disbelief encounter the affected with many discussing of the possibility of his death. The denial concept is a need generated by the mourners for accepting the death. Others agree and are bargaining on the possibilities of his death. This is a stage in emotional response that many in the crowd exhibit when hearing about Victor’s death. The behavioral response of the mourners includes crying and cursing. They ask each other rhetorical questions on why the death of Victor had to occur. Others went silent trying to accept the news. Those that did not find him fascinating acted normal as his death did not bring any change to them. Behavioral characteristics of others gave the impression that some people simply did not care about his death. The behavioral and emotional response comes with the different nature of people to respond to death (Broderick & Blewitt, 2009).
Identify the Stressors that are Operating on this Family. Distinguish between those that can be Controlled and Those that cannot be Changed, Develop a List of Coping Strategies that Might be Useful in Dealing with these Problems
The death of Viktor comes with stressing factors on his family. it seems that the emotional drainage experienced by the family will torment them for the rest of their life. The family cannot control these changes. They cannot help feeling sad for the death of Victor. This may take years, but the feeling will not be different for the family. The financial status will change as Victor’s share will no longer be there this can change by the family seeking financial help from something different from the norms. The family will have problems in communication with the relatives of Victor considering they had problems prior to his death. Creating communication platforms for the two families to discuss the problems will eliminate the difficulties experienced in family. The behavioral activities of the children might change with the death of Victor. This is common as they experience the loss of one of their family members. Counseling for the children will be a positive gesture. Their friends can come in to help with the coping mechanisms. Overall, the family can strategize on accepting the death of Victor and moving on with their lives (Yockey, 2005).
As a Counselor, how would You Begin to Work with this Family? With Isabelle?
It is important to let the family naturally mourn for Victor, especially Isabelle as people react differently. The role of a counselor is to understand this as the first step to recovery. Death is a normal process, yet the loss of a close member in the family always evokes certain emotions in people.
