I think the first person agrees more with me because it is indeed true that the rules governing economic justice, equality, and opportunity are one-sided. It's primarily based on the rich, not considering the poor and the middle class. In agreement with John Rawls’s veil of ignorance law, the person agrees with the fact change can be possible when everyone views the world from the point of John Rawls's view. Using the veil as an ethical way of justice ensures the disregard of the wealthy and elite’s self-interest, and there will be hope for justice for all, including the middle class and the poor.
The person agrees that Rawls's principles of justice and his idea of the veil of ignorance changing the self-interested rationale of humans is different from the morals that we learn. He perceived them as ethical egoism, but I think they are unreliable since humans are prone to greed (Cummings, 2001). People power and wealthy people tend to get greedy to achieve more, thus leading to unequal distribution of wealth and disregarding the middle class and the poor. Veil of ignorance, therefore, although recommendable, it's not guaranteed to convince the elite and wealthy to be fair to the rest of the American population.
