Over the recent times and decades, depression and anxiety amongst the teenagers have been observed to be drastically rising. Medical professionals have therefore been striving to unearth the causes leading to the same. In America, it has been found that not less than two million teenagers are associated with or has at one point reported cases of depression. It has been noted that the teenagers with depressions experience dysfunctions in their daily lives at one point or another. Research conducted by the National Health of Mental Institute has also shown that more than six million teenagers are also victims of anxiety (Jamison, 2018). Comparing the contemporary rise in teenage depression with that of fifty years ago, researchers are convinced that the rate is more than eight times higher. Today's depression levels amongst teenagers are much higher even than they were during the Cold War, World War II, Great Depression not forgetting the 1960s and early 1970s societal turmoil (Jamison, 2018). Fair enough, depression in teenagers is not biased since teens from any economic, geographic, demographics, ethnic and social set-ups can be victims of the same.
