In the modern contemporary business scene, the ability of organizational leaders to transform their business operations and or lines of business has become one of the leading business success factors. Traditionally, organizational transformations by leading companies around the world have followed established change models. Even if all stages of organizational transformation are paramount to driving to the expected goals and objectives, scheduling, which is the final step of decisions is arguably the most important. According to Zeid (57), scheduling decisions in an organizational transformation process involves arranging which activities/operations are to be effected in the designed organizational change such that the internal or external challenge is effectively solved. To exemplify the importance of scheduling decisions during an organizational transformation process, this paper will analyze some of the critical decisions made during the Southwest Airlines transformation process in its recent organizational transformation.
