Entrepreneurship means coming up with an idea after analyzing the market, putting resources together, and accepting the associated risks in the market to make a profit. It involves being creative and innovative and committing to analyze the market trend before putting resources to start a business. An interview conducted by Oprah Winfrey at Stanford Graduate School of Business shows the results of innovation, creativity, and hard work. From the interview named “The secrets of my success” described an entrepreneur as someone who should believe in himself or herself. Entrepreneurship means creating a strong brand and selling out the brand to the consumers. Oprah succeeded in his show because of the brand she had created for it. Everybody could yearn to catch a moment with her at the show because she was probably a superstar.
Secondly, entrepreneurs should believe in their consumers. Business needs commitment, dedication, and delivering that the products will sell. Oprah opines that she believed in the audience, and that is what kept her going for a long time. Third, Oprah believed in personal values and religion to drive a business to success. Max Weber’s social change theory suggests that religion has a profound explanation of the growth of an entrepreneur. Ethical values and religious beliefs play a vital role in determining entrepreneurial culture. In selecting some of her top ranking officials, Oprah Winfrey asked for their religious affiliations during the interview process. She did this in a bid to determine the values she requires to run her business successfully. Weber believed that certain religions do not uphold values that encourage entrepreneurship. For instance, he believes that Hinduism does not encourage entrepreneurship. The urge to get money drives individuals to become entrepreneurs.
