Introduction
The competitive advantage theory was coined by professor Michael Porter of The Harvard Business School, and it states that everyone is better off if decisions are made based on the competitive advantage at all levels (national, corporate, local, and individual) (Porter, 2011). The implications are that businesses and nations should pursue policies that create high quality goods that they can price highly. The theory assumes that cheap labor is abundant and natural resources are unnecessary for a good economy. Porter emphasizes growth in productivity as a point of central focus to national growth strategies. In a perfect world, competition cannot be fair; often firms and especially the multinational enterprises often seek to be better in terms of resources, competencies, or unique abilities in order to exploit the competitive advantage. In business, the competitive advantage exists between enterprises that do business across multinationals. Therefore, this paper will define, discusses how Multinational enterprises (MNE’s) exploit their competitive advantage its possible limitations.
