Economists agree that however large or rich a country is, they can never make everything they need. Roorbach (1993) argues that international trade enables nations to acquire goods and services which they cannot afford to produce locally. Some countries argue against international trade. Such countries hold the belief that cross border exchange of goods and services is harmful to their economic growth as well as employment. These arguments have made countries to impose measures that affect importers and exporters. The World Trade Organization is the most significant set of rules that govern global trade. This paper concentrates on some of the measures that are affecting importers and exporters globally.
Ethical and Legal Measures
Even though international trading declarations and laws have been put to place, nations continue to face difficulties when it comes to ethical business and trading practices. The differences in legal and ethical frameworks among nations are a key issue. Legal and ethical barriers can be divided into 4 categories CITATION Ber19 \l 1033 (Markgraf, 2019).
The challenges of corruption
According to Markgraf (2019) companies that make payments as a way to secure businesses that are guilty of illegal actions are encouraging corruption. It is a way of entertaining unethical behavior. But the conclusion as to whether a business decision is ethical or not depends on the country. Also, the approach to curb corruption differs from country to country.
