1 How are case studies used in management education?
Case studies are used in the management education using several variations. In Harvard, case the materials are used by the learner to apply previously acquired skills in the case. Case studies help the students to improve their managerial skills and analysis of the situations faced in the workplace. In case studies, the students are asked specific and relevant questions and required to submit specific answers. 2 How should a case study be approached?
Case studies are used in many formats and require both individual and group work. Before, the students should be able to conduct individual, study on the case and prepare their analysis. One of the biggest problems seems to be the inability of the learners to find appropriate answers. There is no instructor or teacher in the case studies as senior partners play the part of the teacher in most of the cases. In a case study, the questions or problems are not determined, and they are defined later in the studies. It is essential to determine the issues involved in the case studies, ask the right questions and to determine the objectives of the case studies.
