As a fire prevention officer for this organization, I conducted a quarterly inspection of all organization buildings. During my most recent inspection, I discovered the five code violation, which needs to be addressed since it, could lead to more damage if not repaired immediately. They include the following: one relating to electrical issues, two relating to structural issues, and two relating to ventilation issues. As the Fire Prevention Officer for this organization , it is my duty to present these complaints to the board of directors.
It is essential for the management to address these issues before they turn into a major calamity. Several organizations have collapsed for failing to take immediate action once they discovered any code violation. Furthermore, organizations tend to benefit a lot when addressing this issue before they occur. First, it will ensure the smooth flow of operations without any interference. In the events that one of the structures breaks down, it may take time for it to be addressed. Any disruption can result in the organization losing a huge amount of their resources since it will not be productive. Secondly, the government usually sends some of the fire prevention officers to various firms in the country. On any case, they find that organization is violating any of those codes; they are permitted to close it down for a particular period. This is because it poses greater risk to the employees and any person within that organization. Thirdly, it is the responsibility of the organization to prevent any of their staff from such risks. For a fact, if there is a firebreak down as a result of these default materials, then the organization will be required to compensate that particular employee.
Fire affects thousands of companies each year resulting in injury, loss of customers trust and building damage. By establishing a proper fire prevention plan, it will save the organization from such misfortunes. For a fact, the main aim of any organization is to satisfy their customers. This can only be possible through earning their trust in the first place. For any employee to gain trust for any organization, they have to feel safe while conducting business. In this light, any fire breakout can destroy this trust making the organization to suffer major losses.
The five-code violation that this organization needs to address includes the following. One relating to electrical issues, two relating to structural issues, and two relating to ventilation issues . To understand better, I will give detail information as for why it will be important to address each of the above violation codes. This will prevent any disruption of activities within the organization. In addition, it will result to the safety of both the customers and employees.
The electrical system is the most important element for any organization since it supply’s power to all departments. However, if not properly handle, it can result o major damages. Researchers have proved that the electrical issues are the most common cause of the fire in any organization. What is more, it can lead to the collapse of an organization within hours. Once there is a technical problem in one of the electrical supplies, it will transfer the power to the next building causing another fire break out. In most cases, it is very difficult to put out any outbreak of fire caused by electrical problems.
One of the electrical problems that I discovered while inspecting this organization was that the incoming quantity service is badly worn and in need of immediate repair or replacement. It can be a very risk for the organization since it is likely to give short circuits once they are touched. Furthermore, it poses a risk to the employees working in this organization since they can be electrocuted. Based on other organization, many people have lost their lives due to the failure of the organization to address such issue of fire. It is important to the organization to replace this material once every year since they tend to wear out easily. Also, the organization needs to provide proper materials of checking the entire system to ensure that it is properly protected.
The incoming power supply is connected to the organization infrastructure such as telecommunication, water suppliers, and financial services. Any power outbreak will likely disrupt the functioning of these infrastructures making the organization remain stagnant until that issue is well addressed.
Another code of violation that I found was structural. I found that three concrete that support in the basement of the main operations floor show some small signs of fatigue and spalling of concrete is widespread. This poses a severe risk to the organization since that concrete can tear down causing a fire. The nine concrete are the main pillars that support that building. If three of them are not in proper condition, it can be very dangerous for the organization. Also, once they collapse, it can damage the power supply, which can cause the outbreak of fire.
The second issue that I find was visual cracks and oxidation of several of the steel trusses supporting the roof. The organization also needs to establish the causes of visual cracks for them to find a lasting solution. From my experience as a fire officer, the common causes of visual cracks in buildings are the decay of the building fabric, foundation failure and movement of the ground. The foundation of the building is very important since it will determine its stability. This means that the architecture needs to build the foundation with lasting materials. The visual cracks can be caused by the movement of the ground due to poor foundation system of that building. This explains why the foundation of the building is very important. If the building is found unsafe, the organization will be required to vacate until those issues are properly addressed. Experts should verify the if the building is safe to continue the companies operations.
The common cause of oxidation in the building is rust. This occurs when a building metal mixes with water, and it is not painted or prevented from rusting. As such the material tends to waken which can result in structural failure. However, it is the responsibility of the management to ensure that a specialist comes to verify the cause of both visual cracks and oxidation of several of the steel trusses supporting the roof. Once they are worn out completely, it can lead to the collapse of the roof, which is likely to injure the employees. As such, It is the responsibility of an organization to ensure the safety of both the employees and customers.
Concerning Ventilation, I find that exhaust from apparatus or machinery is collecting in the upper-level area of the organization area, which has caused several personnel to experience symptoms similar to carbon monoxide inhalation. The inhalation of this gas can cause death if not properly handle. In any organization, there needs to be proper ventilation that will allow free circulation of air. The employees have the right to sue the organization for violating their rights regarding their safety. It is the responsible of the management to act fast by ensuring that issue is addressed immediately.
Ventilation is defined as the process of introducing outside air into space. This is to ensure free circulation of air within that open space. This process can be made possible in several ways. First, the management can introduce more places of ventilation that will allow free movement of air in a room. Second, they can introduce a fan that will propel fresh air into the room where employees are working. Also, the management should ensure a professional constructor verify the situation of that room to prevent further harm to the employees. It is also essential for the organization to ensure that the employees are treated in case that carbon monoxide affected them.
In conclusion, the management has the responsibility of addressing the code of violation highlighted during the quarterly inspection. The safety of the employees and customers should be the primary goal for the organization since, without them, no activity is likely to take place. The five code of violation can disrupt the operation of activities if they are not properly handled. Furthermore, it will cost the organization more funds to replace them once they are destroyed.

Proper recoding keeping is part of the work of a Fire Prevention Bureau. Since I am the new Fire Prevention Bureau in that organization, I will conduct another inspection to verify that all the information i\recorded in those documents are valid. In most cases, it is not advisable to relay on documented information regarding the safety of a place. In the vent that there a fire breakout and you have not conduct a proper inspection, then you will be help responsible. I will ask my fellow work mates to conduct a office inspection and determine if the place is safe. It is likely that they will find something which needs to be repaired (Croker, 2010). One advantage of conducting an inspection is that it will give the officer and idea regarding the safety of a place. The officer will also be able to know some of the areas that need to be repaired or replaced.
It will also be important to test all the equipment in that organization to ensure that they are in good shape. To ensure that the system are in proper shape, I will verify my records with the one recorded by the former managers. If the documents records are the same, then I will be certain that the organization is in a proper shape. Furthermore, the work of the work of those records is for comparing the results of that place. The safety of the place will be my first mission.
