Teacher roles and responsibilities
General education and special education teachers: All Marie’s teachers will corporate with their counterpart special needs teachers who are involved in her daily learning activities. For this to be achieved, a plan should be developed to ensure that all modification is accommodated in the curriculum and the classroom setting.
Paraprofessional: For Marie to develop her reading skills a paraprofessional will be required to pre-teach Marie on the reading materials for every learning activity in any environment that will need no distractions.
How differentiation will be done
For effective classroom learning from Marie and other students, it would be necessary if the student were grouped based on their levels of mastery. Marie should be paired with high achieving students so that she could be given a much needed assistance in reading. Marie should be given reading tasks that are easy to handle according to her levels of expertise.
Classroom context and description
During classroom learning activities, all reading activities will be achieved through group and personal reading. Reflections on this project
There are various reasons why I chose this lesson plan. One of the major reasons is how it accommodates every student in the class. Since one of the students has an auditory disorder there is a need to have a lesson plan that is accommodative for each student needs. The lesson plan is structured to give every student chance to participate in the learning activities, in the classroom. This is achieved through support in giving reading instructions and giving a chance for every student to read some part of the reading activity. Therefore, it would be easy for the teacher to note the weakness areas of special needs students like Marie and others who are yet to be discovered. The lesson has also features that will help Marie to get engaged in every activity, in the classroom and prevent boredom. This lesson plan is also easy to follow and gives ample time for each activity. This lesson plan is also flexible. It gives a chance for any teacher to use and teach students at any time. Teachers can also modify the lesson plan to accommodate other activities once they have realized the weakness in the student’s ability to read. By following this lesson plan, it would be easy for the teachers to manage time and activities in the class. Since much attention is needed for Marie, the lesson plan gives the teacher an easier way to teach and monitor classroom development of the student.
The instructional strategies developed in this lesson are meant for all students in the class. They are meant to enhance the reading strategies of the students and develop the reading capabilities of the special needs student (Marie). The instructional strategies chosen here are meant to ensure that normal learning continues in the class despite the needs to accommodate Marie in the learning activity. In many situations, teachers find it difficult to accommodate special needs student in the class. The teachers tend to concentrate on the needs of these students and leave behind others. This often drags the speeds at which learning occurs in the classrooms. Sometimes other students get bored. In other cases teachers tend to concentrate on teaching other well developed student...
