The school is facing a setback in its education and fine arts programs because of state legislation and a school board decisions that are threatening to pull down the profile that it has built over many years. If not checked, these two factors are going to derail the activities of the school and hamper the efforts of the staff and students in attaining their goals. The mission of the school has been to provide the best prevocational education and fine arts programs and our mission has been to be the best institution offering the said programs in our region. This has been achieved in the years past and it has done very well to the extent of earning state recognition for the merit of its students.
The stakeholders involved in this matter are teachers, students, the state government and alumni. The barriers that have stood in the way of promoting a positive school culture include non-collaboration by the legislature and the school board when handling matters of policy and financing. Additionally, these actions show that the administration has no regard for both teachers and students. The school thus risks losing a generation of students for not considering their career guidance needs. According to Habegger (2008), “a positive school culture is the underlying reason why the other components of successful schools were able to flourish.” It is necessary that our school maintains a positive school culture by ensuring that staff, students, administrators, and all other stakeholders are involved in the decision-making processes that influence our school. No one should be made to feel insignificant in a school environment.
