I know this paper is an essay based off of MY opinion and how it shaped MY perspective, so I could provide some insight. I will attach the play I would like you to write about. In response to the question, you could incorporate that It broadened and shaped my perspective of American drama by learning about the different themes. For example, there were themes of homosexuality, and how the play was expressed freely without having the characters be ashamed about their sexuality. Also the way the play was written was different from what I had seen from normal plays. This play jumps between timelines. It even has paralell scenes which really fascinated me. The play of choice is How to Catch Creation by Christina Anderson. This play has been instrumental in shaping my perspective on American drama.
The play was instrumental in broadening and shaping my perspective on American drama. The writer has used her skills to bring out several strong themes in this play. These themes oscillate among the various characters, and the message passed to the audience is very strong. Christina tends to define the dimension of this play as that of African-American scholars. She focuses on how sex, politics, and art can lead to self-realization. The characters in the play are not afraid of sexuality. This theme can be illustrated by Griffin, who is homosexual. He is confident in his sexuality to the extent that he is contemplating adopting a child. He sees no harm in his sexuality as a homosexual. As the play comes to an end, we see him talking more and freely about his desire to have children. It implies his esteem has improved, and he has attained self-actualization. Griffin is comfortable while talking to Stoke about his sexuality. At this point, Stoke pieces of advises him to adopt due to his desire to have kids. He views kids as a legacy that he would want to
