I think smoking cigarettes should be completely banned. Smoking cigar has been a rampant problem in our society. Many youths find themselves addicted to this drug. Cigarettes are made of dried tobacco leaves. It contains other harmful substances. These substances add flavor to the cigar. Once you light it up the cigar it produces smoke. The smoke is usually a mixture of chemicals that is produced when you burn tobacco and the additives contained in the cigar. Why then should the government legalize the sale of cigars? The smoke comprises various chemicals which mainly lead to cancer. These chemicals are normally pointed out as carcinogens. The poisonous chemicals found in tobacco include:
Carbon monoxide which causes a lot of damage is consumed in large quantities. When consumed it replaces oxygen in the blood. It ends up starving the lungs and the other organs the oxygen they require for proper functioning. Tar is a sticky brown substance. When consumed, it coats the lungs just the way soot coats the chimney. It causes an irritation in the lungs and results to the increased quantity of mucus in the chest. It then emerges to breathe restriction in the body.
Do the smokers ever think of the effects of this drug into their body or do they just smoke for fun? It could be peer pressure which pushed them into it without their conscious minds giving it a deeper thought. The government should introduce facilities that visit schools once in a while and discuss such issues. This will create awareness to the students and will help eradicate the abuse of tobacco.
