WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
: Requirement analysis
Requirements analysis: this is the first step that is aimed at defining the number of requirements required in order to foresee the project go on. It is a quantitative measure that ensures that the project reaches completion within the required duration. This is the most critical phase that ensures everything that is required in terms of material resources and other critical human resource elements are available.
Problem definition
The Warehouse management system is a system that is aimed at enabling the management to be in a position to manage the warehouse in terms of stock in and stock out. It will enable one to know the amount of goods that have been sold, what is in the stick and what is out of stock. This will provide managerial frameworks that will ease paperwork in the warehouse. It will also act as an efficient management system to keep all the transactions under watch. Controls are also expected to be easier since the data obtained will be used for analysis and prospecting specific times and seasons.
Issues to be addressed in the system
In every system that needs to address several functions to the required users, there must be several concerns which must be attributed to this. The several questions that need to be addressed include:
* Will the system provide efficiency as compared with the current system?
* Will the system direct and optimize stock based on real time information.
* Will the system allocate space with time as stock movement flows?
* Will the system track where specific goods are within the chain?
The objectives of the warehouse management system include the following that has been enlisted below:
It should provide efficiency in control of all the operations within and outside the warehouse. This will provide a good span of control in the management of all transactions. Among the specific objectives are:
1 To provide tools to analyze stock and make plans for inventory management.
2 To make optimal use of the amount of space available in the warehouse.
3 To make timely and correctly delivery to at the desired times.
4 To reduce expenses on both labor and storage tasks through improving the processes.
5 To consolidate orders to reduce transport costs and ensure work and plan balance.
Requirements for warehouse managements system
The requirements include both functional and non-functional requirements and are as discussed below.
The project manager should ensure that all the requirements are well planned for. The project requires that resources be set so that the required information can be derived. The resources range from human resources. This ensures that all activities are accounted for during project initiation up to project implementation and project follow-up.
Other requirements to be looked into are the material requirements. This is the basis upon which the system will have a foundation on.
Constraints in warehouse management system
Constraints are those factors that may lead to the delay of the project and leading to failure of the whole system. The types of constraints include both physical and logical constrains.
Logical constrains affect the system through lack of enough research materials I order to fully implements the system. It includes constrains in database design and the structural design of both the system in terms of writing modules and planning.
Physical constraints include factors that affect the system in a way that it affects the system based on the physical elements within the system. It includes lack of resources. This includes financial resources and human resources.
Description of the proposed system
The proposed system is expected to be an architect to efficient utilization of resources. It will also give timely information in real time regarding the products, space and location availability in the warehouse.
It will act as a bride between the management in that it will be used in making reports that are going to be used in making managerial decisions. This is very optimal as compared to the manual system that is being used in the warehouse.
Logical model design of the system is as shown in the following diagrams.

The processes start from any input of any amount of stock into the system as input. The system checks if there is enough space in the warehouse. If there isn’t, it rejects the input since it cannot be stored. If there is enough space, the goods are input into the system.
Recording of the quantity of the goods is done. This also includes the time of arrival, the source and other details that may be...
