Preliminary Care for Mental Health
A care plan can either be a standardized care plan or an individualized care plan. Although mental health is a psychosocial problem, there are different intervention measures that are supposed to be used to solve the problem. Exposure to a humanitarian crisis and social inequalities have been found to fuel the issue of mental health problems in society (Bland et al., 2015). In this regard, there is a need to employ a multi-dimensional approach to help those affected. The approach entails understanding the problems facing persons affected by a mental health problem and assessing the needs and resources required to help them. For the mental health problem, developing both standardized care plans and individualized care plan is critical to ensure that the whole community is covered even as individuals with mental health problems get solutions to their problems.
Mental Health Concern
There is no doubt that mental health is a concern worldwide. With many things happening today, many people are faced with the risk of developing mental health problems. For instance, an increased population has made resources scarce for people. Job opportunities are diminishing, with very few vacancies available for everyone. For example, the current COVID-19 pandemic has been detrimental to many people since it was reported in 2019. Many people have lost jobs, others have been infected with the disease, and others have also been affected socially. While there are specific intervention measures to help the affected people, it is critical to look at primary and secondary factors related to mental health problems (Byrne & Neville, 2010).
Objectives
* To assess the prevalence of mental health among the community
* To identify possible causes and solutions to the mental health problem
* To promote evidence-based care for persons with mental health problems and to create pleasant care centers and healthier community
Goals
The primary goal of the plan is to ensure that the community is helped on how to address mental health problems facing people. Educating people on how they can avoid developing mental health problems will play a critical role in making people productive. Treatment of mental health problems is a costly undertaking. Affected persons become unproductive because they cannot perform their duties effectively. Apart from curative strategies, the plan will also entail educating the people on how they can solve socioeconomic issues facing them to avoid developing mental health problems.
Available Community Resources
Mental health is a public health issue addressed by community health workers. Mental health information is availed to the community through various initiatives, including free information in health centers and community-based initiatives to educate people about it (Elder et al., 2012). However, there is a need to intensify information sharing by establishing more effective strategies. For instance, today, many people use the internet through their smartphones to access information. Since there has been a change in management because of the financial restraints, it is critical to use cost-effective means. Sharing information regarding mental health through social media can help reduce costs incurred when using mainstream media houses.
The current COVID-19 pandemic information is shared with the community by the government. Merging the health information about the pandemic and mental health can significantly enlighten people on the interventions needed for people to stay safe. Reducing the cost above creates room for other effective methods to offer interventions to eliminate the problem. For instance, more health centers can be established within the community to help people with mental health problems. Partnering with non-governmental organizations can pull up resources to help the community.
Other health facilities offer specific solutions to people with different health problems. For instance, a fitness gym facility can collaborate with the health center to provide physical exercise services to persons diagnosed with mental health problems. Although the health center is critical for people requiring inpatient services, having mobile clinics is instrumental in ensuring that emergencies are addressed within the community. Additionally, instead of waiting for patients to visit the health center, group counseling services should be offered within the community in collaboration with other stakeholders (Gillespie, 2002). For example, worship centers can be used to educate people about mental health.
