Analyzing Shorpshire County Councils, Joint Strategic Needs Assessment
INTRODUCTION
Joint Strategic Needs Assessment tells us and also gives us the chance to study the social and healthcare needs of the general public. It not only gives us the information regarding the health and other issues of the people around but also presents us the opportunity to evaluate and have thorough and complete analysis with the prompt and detailed answers. It might not cover all the issues because our focus and main focal point will be on the JSNA of old age people. ("PUBLIC HEALTH TRANSITIONâ€).
This report will mainly highlight the Needs of Assessment of the Old people and on the aging population regarding their health care it will address to the responsibility of combine working and community care stipulation.
FACILITATION OF ACCESS AND APPLICATION
Shorpshire JSNA is very easy to access and can be find on the web and other sources. It can be simply found in the Shorpshire council official webpage. The Shorpshire council must educate the people to find and locate the JSNA ("Physical activity andâ€). The Shorpshire resident’s health experience is in the JSNA which will make easy to approach for the local residents ("PUBLIC HEALTH TRANSITIONâ€).
WHY IS SOME ISSUES CHOSEN AS PRIORITY?
There are many issues of health care in the Shorpshire Council, but somehow we have to focus on the old age and aged people group because this age group is most affected.
SHORPSHIRE, THE PEOPLE AND PLACE
Shropshire is a large county in the located in the UK, with an overall population of around three hundred thousand of mainly consisting white British caste and a high proportion of people aged over 50 years old. Like many other rural areas, overall the county is rather wealthy and affluent – however there are some areas of deprivation which arises issues with access to services.
THE HEALTH OF SHORPSHIRE POPULATION
Overall the health of the people of this area is good but we are generally focusing on the health of the old age people. It has been observed that the life expectancy rate at the Shorpshire has been significantly increased.
KEY PROBLEMS FOR THE SHORPSHIRE AGEDPOPULATION
Shorpshire has a larger population of older people or aged people and it is really the concern for the local administration and for the council as well. ("PUBLIC HEALTH TRANSITIONâ€).The Main key problems which they are facing right now are as follows:

* Lifestyle and other risk factors affecting Health
* Non communicable Disease
* Dementia
* Falls
* Seasonal Flu

AGEINGWELL
One cannot stop aging, it is truly inevitable and will happen as the time goes but it is important to have some care about the health and fitness at the old age because this age normally goes with the problem as they move on("Physical activity andâ€).
HEALTH INEQUALITIES
It was noticed and make into account that there were some inequalities in the some areas of Shorpshire, which not only created discrimination but deprivation in the people, that they were not getting the proper medical and other facilities.
LIFESTYLE AND OTHER RISK FACTORS AFFECTING HEALTH
The Shorpshire council has observed in the JSNA that the old age people have involved in the unhealthy activities which has created problem for themselves. There has also been observed that they were involve in smoking and other unhealthy and unsafe habits which might make them addicted towards it but will also cause them serious threats such as lung cancer , tuberculosis and other dangerous diseases ("Promoting physical activityâ€).
NON COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
There are some non-communicable diseases too which are the main problem of the large old age group of the community. It has been find in the age group of over 70 years this problem has been the most irritating and annoying for the patients that they cannot able to deliver the message to the clinician, nurses or even doctors ("PUBLIC HEALTH TRANSITIONâ€).
DIMENTIA
Dementia is a growing disease which has symptoms like memory loss, mood changes and other problems such as difficulty in communication and all that. Mostly people that are affected by Dementia are aged sixty to sixty five. However, it is expected to increase because of their aging population.
WHAT THE SHORPSHIRE COUNCIL DOING FOR THAT?
The Shorpshire council is doing best to encounter this problem in their more than 7% of the aged population, but one thing to be mentioned here is that the council have arranged and managed to have some lifestyle risk management classes to educate their people regarding weight loss and memory loss and guiding them that how to measure and control this emerging disease ("Physical activity andâ€).
PLANS FOR CONTROLLING DIMENTIA
There are some backup plans for controlling this appealing disease, there are some voluntary foundations working for dementia in Shorpshire Council but it has to increase to slow down this moving disease.
FALLS
One in three over sixty-five and one in two over eighties fall each year. Injuries coming from falls are one of the most common reasons of death in people aged 75 years old and over. There is a very high chance for people who have fallen to have repeated falls after the initial fall.
In Shorpshire it has been constantly observed that more falls cases have been admitted in the hospitals and one thing to notice here is that most of the cases are of females over seventy five years old. ("Promoting physical activityâ€).
SHORPSHIRE PLANS FOR ENCOUNTERING FALLS
In the County there is a Falls Prevention Service which works both in the community and in local hospitals..The services have been installed for the betterment of the patient and for making them prevent from prospect falls, these observations also helps and guides the patient about their concentration level.("Physical activity andâ€).
PLANS FOR CONTROLLING FALLS
Older people who have fallen in the past year or have fallen previously should be examined carefully because this might have happened due the lack of energy. It might have happened due to the weakness in their body just because of the lack of nutrition or proper food. ("PUBLIC HEALTH TRANSITIONâ€).
