Introduction
There are four misconceptions that truly depict the thinking and understanding of students about learning history.
Discussion
First, history is mainly based on faulty thinking as students usually misapprehend historical knowledge. In their opinion whatever the history textbooks interpret is complete as they are written by history specialist and further photographs give the authenticity. I totally agree with the author as students are not influenced by the facts as they just read history to record the past. If they come across the accounts written by historians from diverse culture, they consider the information as historians with wrong and restricted knowledge or presume as the authors of the textbook have a prejudice regarding the other culture. Young people often are unable to analyse and read the historical events without asking any questions and assume historical description as the reenactment of the past events.
Then young people and adults are more convinced by primary sources rather than secondary sources as they provide a clearer picture or glimpses from the past through valid resources such as photographs, diaries, artifacts, newspapers, letters etc. The artifacts or any other physical evidences act as pieces of puzzles. Moreover, eye-witness events are considered as more authentic and a complete source of information of the past.
