German Expressionism
German Expressionism involved several innovative moments in 1920 before Berlin experienced the peak of the First World War. These improvements in Germany involved a more significant part of expressionist measures in central and north Europe with cultural sectors such as sculpture, cinema, dance, architecture, and cinema. When countries experience war, the industries are also affected or vulnerable to the consequences after the war. Historical concepts of German Expressionism
After Germany experienced isolation during WWI and foreign films were forbidden, domestic film production increased due to an upsurge in theatre demand. The rise in economic inflation resulted in the Germans' freeing movies since the government was aware of their money's diminishing value. Despite the popularity of films in Germany, the cinema began gaining international appreciation from other audiences in 1922, mainly due to lessening anti-German sentimentalities after the war. When the import ban was boosted, Germany had already entered the film industry internationally. Innumerable cultures in Europe embraced the changes and had a strong passion for focusing on the future through experimentation with artistic, new ideas, and bold styles. The initial expressionist films were created due to inadequate lavish resources. They used set schemes with objects, shadows, walls, and floor designs representing lights, absurd geometric angles, and rugged non-realistic designs. These films' storylines and plots often focused on intellectual topics, betrayal, insanity, and madness issues, triggering WWI experiences (Razzano and Smith, 2018, p.59).
