Technological advancements have become part and parcel of our day to day lives. The same aspect is witnessed in the military that has over the past few years hailed a wide range of military technologies especially in the fight against terrorism. While the majority of the military technologies have been received with hype and excitement some have experienced the reverse. The use of drones in the fight against terrorism is among the military technologies that have been highly criticized especially by the human right groups and activists. However, previous approaches that aid in the criticism has deviated away from judging drone technology and its capacity in counterterrorism missions based on core functionalities and the availability of necessary support needed to optimize its core functionalities. This white paper presents new approaches that might change how people have continuously viewed and drone technology as unfit in counterterrorism missions. The new approaches to this topic show that drone technology has several important roles, it is missing key supportive requirements and that it will only get better with time.
