The device shown in the diagram is a Cisco networking device known as a router. A router is a networking device that is responsible for the forwarding of the data packets between the computer networks. Moreover, in order to determine the best path for the data packet forwarding, it (router) primarily make use of its routing tables (Cisco, 2018). With that being said, it is important to state that there are various methods that can be used to access the routers' configuration data and they include console access, web-based access, telnet access(considered insecure), and through SSH. When using the console access method, you will need a laptop or pc, a DB-9/Ethernet RJ-45, or a USB / DB-9 adapter, or an RJ-45 /USB, or USB-C /RJ-45 cable. To connect to the console of the router, plug in the DP-9 adapter or USB or USB-C to the port of the PC, if any of the mentioned is supported by the PC in use, and then plug the RJ-45 cable into the router's port. However, for this assignment, the web-based approach is considered because it is simple and straightforward.
