Group Technology Project
1. Introduction
Teamwork enhances ingenuity, efficiency, engagement, communication, and productivity in organizations, thus giving entities a competitive edge. According to Sanyal and Hasam (2018), a team entails a group of individuals who work jointly to attain the same objectives and provide excellent products and services. Members in a team are likely to exhibit a higher level of emotional security, self-possession, and the aptitude to plan and decide alongside others positively. In organizations, collaboration creates a healthy work environment with practical outlines, inventive undertakings, positive approaches, and standards. Although trivial personality differences can trigger disrupting conflicts that undercut team performance, collaboration among employees enhances the attainment of the goals and visions or within organizations. This report will analyze the existing knowledge of team working methodologies and models within IT technology projects. The report will also compare agile and waterfall team working methodologies and find the benefits of each when used in technology development projects.
2. The Importance of Working as a Team in Technology Projects
Despite the convenience of individual work, teamwork is essential in technology projects due to the associated strong benefits. First, teams are crucial in handling compound and significant problems. Team members produce quality work since they assemble corresponding knowledge and apply different research approaches. For instance, the 1947 discovery of the transistor was as a result of the matching skills of Walter Brattain, John Bardeen, and William Shockley. According to Daitch and Hoddeson (2002), the invention was as a result of brilliant physicians’ teamwork. Teams also incorporate extensive social networks and provide all members an opportunity to learn from each other, thus benefitting from diverse experiences and skills. According to Schaubroeck, Carmeli, Bhatia, and Paz, team members spend most of their time at work, and members are likely to learn new skills and strategies from their colleagues. The collaboration also enables members to complement each other by balancing their weak and strong areas. Therefore, despite the challenges associated with teamwork, proper management of teams can enhance productivity, job satisfaction, and fun in IT projects.
