Music recording in Acoustic and Electrical era
Music recording and production began as a result of industrial revolution. In acoustic era, practical recording technologies were entirely based on mechanical devices where the recorders used a large conical horn to collect and focus the air pressure of the produced sound waves produced from musical instruments. A membrane located at the apex of the cone was very sensitive and therefore was connected to an articulated stylus and the sound waves would be moved into the recording medium. On the other era, Electrical era, second wave of sound recording history was brought by the introduction of western electric’s integrated system of electrical microphones. Through introduction of electric system, sound could now be captured, balanced electronically, filtered as well as amplified.
