1 Investment banks like Godman Sachs and Morgan Stanley offer investment duties to its clients, mostly corporations. These may include issuing stocks and bonds. Apart from the main functions, it also transfers money to firms which need cash. There are various methods they could use; however, the online platform is the commonest. One tool they use is SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications). The platform allows the banks to assign each organization a unique code as an identifier. The system is used to transfer the money to firms in need of cash by the firms.
2 The interest rate that banks offer on investments or charge on loans depends on the horizon of the investment or loan. This relationship between the interest and investment term is referred to us term structure of interest rates (Malkiel, Burton Gordon). It can be represented graphically on a Yield curve. Yield curve assists in computing both present and future values of risk-free cash flow for particular investment horizons.
