Elementary French 1st Semester (FR 101LEC) is an introductory course to French for beginners. The course introduces the French language as heard and spoken to familiarize the students with the fundamental aspects of French. These fundamentals form the oral category, encompassing articulate sounds, vowels, and syllables. The course then introduces the students to spoken and written French development. The developments build a student’s oral and written skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing as they prepare them for fluency. The course includes regular drills with language recordings during the program to ensure the students grow in fluency.
Elementary French 2nd Semester (FR 102LEC) is a continuation of the Elementary French 1st Semester. The course aims to develop students’ oral and written skills by reviewing existing skills and introducing new ones for them to grow in fluency. The student moves from French vowels to conjugate the verb and deeper language context. The course also comprises oral presentations as a means of developing verbal expressions as well as effective presentation techniques. Understanding and speaking the French language is built through special topics such as holidays, media, the weather, and the environment.

In addition, its extent makes it an important language in global commerce and international science. Moreover, there are areas where it is necessary to have good language knowledge. These include global organizations such as the United Nations, the European Union, Interpol, and many others. Therefore, Introductory French is fundamental in preparing individuals for the world of French. This global pathway topic hopes students find it interesting to study more about this language and its culture in college.
