SHORT STORY
They all say that experience in the best teacher. This statement is the truth. Life has many challenges
and tribulation but how one reacts to it determines how well he is able to adopt in life.
There once lives a young boy who like any other ordinary boy enjoyed his life. His names were Sam. It
was tradition for all boys to learn how to take care of cows in the neighbourhood. For Sam, it was it way
a getaway from school life as he rarely had any interest in school at all. As normal every morning he
would wake up very early to go and take the cows for grazing.
It happened that one morning s was usual, he grabbed his spear and led the cows to the grazing
fiel.Unknown to him, and this day would be different from the rest. It only took few hours to reach the
fertile grazing land, as Sam lay toward a big rock and watched his father herd from a distance.
From a distance, they was his old friends John who also normally brought his cows in a nearby by field.
For John however, he came along with His father and eldest brother. They never used to share much
about them, for they were from different type of communities, and were it not for the fact that they
were both herders, they probably would even talk to each other leave alone make friends.
Sam was however a rude boy. He loved to make fan of everybody and anything. It has made him get
into trouble and some rumors in the community indicated it was the reason the parents had opted to
prefer him in the field rather in the classs.
Just a few moments in the grazing field, Sam spotted a hyena in the bush. It was never harm neither to
the cows nor to anyone, as hyena was considered not a threat to anyone. Being who Sam was, he
perceived an evil motive within himselve. He intended to scare away John and his family something he

had always wanted to do.
He waited at the right moment, just when the hyena was close enough to be spotted by everyone, and
in a loud voice, he grasped his spear and ran towards John herd of cows shouting loudly that he had
spotted a lion. To everyone, a lion was considered a dangerous animal, so dangerous it would result to
the herder shifting away to other locations if one is spotted nearby.
John never wasted time, but rather took his spear and called for help. They all together along with his
family gather together the herd of cattle’s and were ready to move. However,Sam cold not restrain his
cunning laughter as he approached them laughing out aloud a he indicated it was only a joke.
This did not go so well wit John family, and was it not for the respect they had for Sam’s father, they
would have tiered him apart. Sam however was not the kind of boy who was ever graceful for anything
neither did he ever learn nor be grateful for being regarded as a son of a respectable person, rather he
took advantage of it to insult many.
This behavior took on for a while till Johns family we...
