Generally, alcohol consumption during pregnancy causes various damages to an unborn baby and may result in many different illnesses. In most cases, the degree of damage varies depending on the amount of alcohol consumed during the pregnancy (Spohr, Hans-Ludwig 166). Also, when a pregnant woman drinks heavily, some alcohol easily crosses over the placenta to the fetus. Undeniably, developing embryos cannot process alcohol concentrated, leading to damages.
