Introduction
The divergent moral principles of utilitarianism and deontology are applicable to the ethical decision-making process. Moral agents determine the most appropriate moral school of thought to apply in deciding on what is just and right (Freeman 335). However, a utilitarian and a deontologist can combine their ethical perspectives with the goal of reaching the most appropriate and moral decision. Dialogue between a utilitarian and a deontologist is useful for understanding the differences between their philosophical and moral views as well as the associated implications on determining a solution to the trolley problem.
