Miranda v. Arizona (1966)
Miranda v. Arizona (1966) is one of the significant rulings in the history of America. Miranda was a young man who had a history of mental problems. He was arrested and charged with kidnapping and rape. The suspect was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison. He appealed the determination to the Supreme Court of the U.S, which ruled that since the police failed to provide adequate information to Miranda against self-incrimination and his right to an attorney, the prosecution could not be allowed to introduce the suspect’s confession as evidence in that criminal trial.
