Input suppliers
The input suppliers provide Extension and Advisory Services (EAS) to market their own products and must depend on turning a profit to remain in business. Field-level distributors may lack technical knowledge of the product, agriculture, or EAS methodologies, incentives or ability to supply them. Higher officials are likely to be at the cutting edge in knowledge of their product and their benefits.
Producers
These are farm operators who oversee the operations in the agricultural sector.
Commodity processors
 Commodity processor is a processor that is designed for an extensive market and manufactured in large numbers.
Food manufacturers
These are individuals who combines, purifies, processes, or packages food for sale through a wholesale channel.
Food distributors
The process in which a general population is supplied with food is done by food distributors that supply the food to the users
Food retailers
These are places that consumers can buy food and take it off-site, that is they consume the food at different sites other than where they buy them.
2 How did the Industrial Revolution lead to the greater urbanization of America?
Industrialization has traditionally led to urbanization by generating economic growth and job opportunities that draw people to cities. Better working conditions, Trade unions and reforms also led to American urbanization. These technological centers draw workers from other areas in the same way factories used to, backing urbanization. Larger factories were located in cities. The Second America’s Industrial Revolution begun following the Civil War with the introduction of interchangeable parts, assembly-line production, and new technologies, including the telephone, automobile, electrification of homes and businesses. The businesses and factories behind the industrial revolution were located in the nation’s towns and cities.
3 How has American’s perception of food changed in recent years? What does this change mean for the success of agribusiness firms in the global agri-food system in the future?
Americans recently pay more attention to eating healthy foods today compared with 20 years ago. American’s perception of healthy foods has significantly changed. They started eating more home-cooked meals with their family as opposed dining in restaurants. Also, Americans started paying attention to the nutrition labels which contributed to them starting to eat healthier foods. Reduced consumption of calories. This has affected the global agri-food system to find ways in future to innovate and adjust to providing for their customers the desire for healthy and tasty foods. Offering a variety of high-quality and nutritious products will be expected in future.
4 Describe the forces that led to the three major sectors of the global agri-food system.
1. The degradation of natural resources
The productivity and sustainability of our global food system depends on the state of earth’s natural resources: soil, water, climate, and biodiversity, both terrestrial and aquatic. Humans survive and prosper by manipulating these most fundamental resources to produce food through farming, animal husbandry and fisheries. But our food system is emerging as a major contributor to the breaching of our planetary boundaries that define “a safe operating space for humanity.”
2. Climate change
Our climate is one of our natural resources. It is a fundamental building block of the food system, providing temperatures and rainfall favorable to the management of farming systems that meet our nutritional requirements.
3. Urbanization
Major economic and demographic changes have had significant impacts on health outcomes of the global population, including fertility and mortality rates as well as disease patterns and health outcomes.
4. Globalization
It describes a historical and ongoing process of integration of economies across countries through the trade of goods and services, along with flows of labor, investment and technology across national borders.
5. Consumer behavior
Changing demographics, incomes, lifestyles, and preferences influence demand for specific foods. Overall, global diets are shifting towards higher-quality, nutrient-dense products such as meat, dairy products, and oils – but also towards more processed foods.
5 Explain the role of export markets in U.S. agriculture and how it has changed in recent years.  Who are our trading partners and how has this list changes in recent years? How is it likely to change in the future?
Export markets are important to U.S. agriculture, because they absorb a substantial portion of total production of many important commodities. During the last two decades there have been periods of expansion and days of contraction. And again, the mix of U.S. agricultural products exported has changed and so have the destinations
